Twenty-plus years working with my hands before I became an RMT — starting as a Red Seal Automotive Service Technician at nineteen. I understand physical strain because I've lived it, and I bring that understanding into every treatment.
New location opens September 1, 2026 — Lumby, BC
A father of three, a long-time Lumby local, and a former tradesperson — I bring all three into how I practice.
I'm Joel Rivard, a Registered Massage Therapist with roots in Lumby going back to childhood. Before massage therapy, I spent over twenty years in the trades — starting as a Red Seal Automotive Service Technician at nineteen, and later working in sheet metal. That background gave me a firsthand understanding of what repetitive strain and overuse actually feel like, from the inside, not just from a textbook.
I'm also a dad to three kids, and I know how much your health matters to the people around you, not just to you. Whether you're managing family life, work, or both, my goal is to help you stay capable and comfortable in the day-to-day — not to promise a fix, but to work with you toward steady, honest progress.
My clinical focus is mainly low back and shoulder issues, though I treat a broad range of concerns for Lumby and the surrounding North Okanagan. Lumby isn't just where I work — it's home, and that shapes how I show up for the people I treat.
My main clinical focus — a common source of pain from both work and daily life.
Long-standing pain patterns, postural strain, and recurring tightness.
Strains, sprains, and overuse injuries from work, sport, or daily strain.
The physical toll of manual labour, ranch work, and active hobbies.
